I worked with Gerry about 20-odd years ago. I was a daft wee office boy, and Gerry was in sales. The company was horrific to work for and Gerry was one of the very very few redeeming parts of being there.
I remember Gerry as a true gentle-man. The most generous person, never too busy to talk to others and treat them with a little kindness. He was like an oasis back then and the reason I searched for him online was to connect with him and tell him this. I will be eternally sorry that I won't get that opportunity.
